Americans For Prosperity to Hold Capital Rally

April 5, 2014

“The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence.”    –  John Adams

“It is sufficiently obvious, that persons and property are the two great subjects on which Governments are to act; and that the rights of persons, and the rights of property, are the objects, for the protection of which Government was instituted. These rights cannot well be separated.”    – James Madison

As has become my trademark, so to speak, I’ve opened this column with a couple of quotes. These quotes both share the same topic, which is taxes. I’ve brought this up because I’ve spoken with Americans for Prosperity West Virginia State Director, Wendy McCuskey recently. Wendy is kind enough to pass on information that I can use to both write a column and help AFP spread the word. Personally, I’m excited to have a State Chapter of AFP here, in West Virginia. I’m also honored that Wendy keeps me informed and up to date on what’s going on in the Mountain State. Below is part of an email sent to me by, Wendy.

Could you believe that Washington is on track to collect more than $3 trillion in taxes this year. Wondering where all our hard-earned money is going? I’ve found a few examples, which you can see below. Before you check out the shocking examples of federal waste, located below, Everyone at AFP wants you to join them for a Tax Day Rally at the ball-park, Saturday, April 12th, for the opening weekend at the WV Power Stadium! Americans for Prosperity – West Virginia has rented out a room at the stadium so we can get together, tail-gate, and send a message to Washington that it’s time to cut the fat. We’ll phone bank to tell our fellow West Virginians about the costs of Washington’s reckless spending, then eat some great food and watch the game. It will be a very American way to protest Uncle Sam’s very un-American spending habits!

Lest there be any doubt, Washington has a real spending problem, with plenty of waste in our own state. Here’s the top three examples I found. Which one do you think is the worst?
  • Despite spending an astounding $1.3 millionin stimulus dollars on broadband tech consultants, West Virginia remains “the worst in the country in terms of a disconnected populace, with recent FCC data showing that 46 percent of the state’s residents don’t have access to broadband.”
  • Over $5 million was spent on $22,000 routers for over 1,000 public libraries, many of which are very small and not technologically capable of making use of such an expensive piece of equipment. There are another 366 expensive routers purchased which are just sitting unused.

Don’t let Washington’s waste go un-noticed this tax season. Join AFP-WV at the West Virginia Power Park on Saturday, April 12, 2014 for our Tax Day Rally and Grassroots Activities! We need to tell our fellow West Virginians that we are fed up with big government spending!

I’m going to try to go to this rally, myself, but if my schedule won’t allow it, I’m going to go to the next one. From what Wendy tells me, AFP is just getting rolling in West Virginia. If you haven’t heard much about them, please go to “”, and check them out. You can find out about the various issues they support, the issues they are against, and get a good grasp of what kind of people they are. Also, please don’t hesitate to contact them and offer your help or to ask about upcoming events. I’ve reached out to a couple of other organizations, to get info on what they are up to and things I can pass on to readers. AFP has been great about returning emails and I want to say “Thank You!!” to Wendy McCuskey and her team for being so kind.

Again, feel free to contact Americans for Prosperity and get involved!! The only way that West Virginia can change West Virginia, is if West Virginians change it. The Mountain State has been ran by Liberal Democrats for too many years. Granted, some leaders are a bit less Liberal than others, but in the end, Liberal policies always win. It’s past time that “We The People” take over our state and then the nation. We must bring the Constitution back to being the law of the land. We’ve allowed our rights to be watered down enough. We’ve allowed our leaders to ignore the law for far too long. God Bless You! God Bless West Virginia! God Bless America!
