Common As A Failure

Last night, I had a brief, somewhat humorous, talk about “common core” with a young conservative. To be honest, I knew nothing about this “common core”, what it was, what it was for, or anything. My young conservative protégé explained that it was a national education standard, being pushed all over America. This brief conversation yielded no answers, but many questions.
So, I did what I like to do and researched it, to see what I could find. I have to say, I’m not the least impressed with this “common core” approach to education. Let me explain.
Basically, common core is defined as “transformative education”, which is broken down, into three dimentians:
1. Psychological, or change in your understanding of who you are
2. Convictional, or a revision in your beliefs
3. Behavioral, or the way you live your life or behave
This is nothing more than targeting our children, in yet another attempt to remold them into what the government desires. This is nothing short of changing our cultural, religious, social, economic, and political system, through our children. This approach mirrors communism in its pursuit of one party rule.
The common core “standards” were never voted on, or passed, by congress, the Department of Education, state, or local governments. Yet, this was implemented in 49 states and U.S. territories, to include the great State of West Virginia (although a quick search found many web sites and pages for “WV against common core”) This was done by Obama bribing states into implementation by offering up $4.35 billion of taxpayer dollars to participating states. How can any cash strapped state pass on more money?
A “one size fits all” approach to education, does not work with children that are not one size fits all. I found several videos, which showed a speaker talking about how common core does not require a correct answer in math, as long as the student can explain how they get their answers!! Education is supposed to be about creativity, appreciation, and inquisitiveness. Teachers teach to free minds, to inspire.
Part of what I found dealt with reading. The classics of western literature are no longer going to be taught. Instead, government pamphlets will be used. Government pamphlets? This will even incorporate sexuality standards for our children, as young as five! This is straight up indoctrination of our children. Common core has a lack of local and regional input, the “standards” are copyrighted, and they are imposed, regardless of demographic and geographic needs or differences. I dug this much up, with only an hour of research time.
I thought about the impacts of common core on home schooling as well. These common core standards will still implemented on the testing, so if your child hasn’t been taught the “common core” way, he/she may still be the brightest in the room, but will score badly and fail the tests. This will eventually flip the graphs on who is actually a “bright student” and who isn’t. In the end, that will be used as “proof” to further push a socialist agenda, starting with our children. Our children are our future and that future, we cannot risk.
I will be putting in some serious research on this subject, in the future, and also plan to speak with any educator who is willing to open up and discuss this. I’m concerned now, but feel that like Obamacare, Obamacore will have to fully “out” to find out exactly what’s in it.
God Bless You, God Bless West Virginia, and God Bless America!!
