Filmmakers Dispell Media and HBO Myths About Marcellus Shale Drilling

April 10, 2012

The above link is to a Young America’s Foundation article that describes the release of a new documentary called “FrackNation”

It discusses the science and myth surrounding the drilling process called hydrofracturing or “fracking.”  According to Young America’s Foundation:

These two journalists are looking for support from individuals to complete the film and show it around the country.

The plan calls for this full-length movie to be released at the same time as “GasLand 2,” with one important distinction: While “GasLand 2” is receiving $750,000 from HBO, the funding for “FrackNation” is a 100 percent grassroots effort, relying on individuals to send as little as $1 to support its completion and distribution.

This film is going to need far more than that to counter the media hype surrounding “GasLand 2,” not to mention HBO’s considerable programming muscle.

The Washington Free Beacon produced a report centered around a US Geological Survey admission that fracking does not cause earthquakes.

Throughout the Appalachian Mountains, fracking is uncovering massive natural gas deposits.  The energy potential here is said to be greater than the oil reserves of Saudi Arabia.  No negative effects have been conclusively traced to the process
