Never Forgotten

November 12, 2013

As a proud Veteran of the United States Army, I wanted to take a few minutes and say something about Veterans Day and Veterans. I served seven years, my father served till retirement, my Grandfather served. Someone, in my family, has served and/or died fighting in every conflict the United States has been involved in, to include my Native American ancestors. I’m very proud of my families service in the defense of our Great Nation, our freedoms, and our liberties.
I may be a Veteran, but on Veterans Day or Memorial Day, I always take a second to thank each and every other Veteran that I can, for both their service and sacrifices. They’ve earned that, in the least. You’d be amazed what that simple “thank you” means to them. Some of the Veterans that I’ve thanked have actually told me, “I’ve waited thirty years to hear that”. Please… Thank a Veteran.
Whether that Veteran is no longer serving, currently serving, or is waiting to go to boot camp… Those men and women wrote a blank check, payable to the United States of America, for up to and including their lives. Most Veterans are very humble people. Yes, they’re proud of their service. They should be, but the thing that most people do not understand, is the sense of duty that these men and women felt, or still feel, for America. The sense of gratitude to our freedoms and liberties, that they have. The sense of pride that these men and women share, for America.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you for your service and sacrifice, to all Veterans. I have nothing, except love and respect for you all. To the families, of the soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, I wish for you to know how sorry I am for your loss and sacrifice. Your sons and daughters will never be forgotten however. They will stay in my heart and the hearts of all Veterans. America will forever be in their debt. God bless you all, God bless West Virginia, and God bless America…
